So the Spawn budget, how big or small is that going to be? Here’s the thing when it was first announced that the creator of this Heaven–Hell centered franchise was seeking to reboot his indie hit I think we all got a little worried. And as time went on it became clear that Todd McFarlane had a very specific vision in mind for this feature and his comments at NYCC via Deadline cement that fact. He wants creator control, the ability to update fans and the power to make the flick the way the award winning talent wants to see it on the big screen.
I’m spending my own money so who cares if it doesn’t work out. It’s a $10 million budget movie, and (a studio) would just get a 22-year-old punk director. I just want to be the old punk directing it.
- Todd McFarlane
I got hope for this so much so that after he finished the script and then found it a home with Blumhouse Productions I was grinning. The fact that he also got the directing chair made his goals seem attainable. His ultimate plan to have Spawn as this creature in a dark hard R-rated horror film feels so right. So by all means we here at SnapPow.com totally support this awesome “old punk director” and his pet project.
But what do you think? Are you eager for Spawn on the big screen again? Or is this endeavor just a mistake?
