The Hellboy reboot may very well be dropping it’s Rise of the Blood Queen subtitle, but that doesn’t mean that the eponymous villain won’t feature in the project. According to Deadline Resident Evil actress, Milla Jovovich is in “final talks” to star as the Blood Queen in the Neil Marshall (The Descent) directed movie. Should Jovovich sign onto the project, she will join David Harbour (Stranger Things), who’s playing Big Red himself, as well as Ian McShane (American Gods), who was recently announced as Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Broom.
If I’m being honest, I never considered Jovovich taking on this role, but now that the idea is out there, it is one that I can firmly get behind. Despite being more known for her heroic roles in the likes of Resident Evil, Ultra Violet and The Fifth Element, the actress isn’t a stranger to playing an antagonist, having done an excellent job as Milady de Winter in the lacklustre Paul W. S. Anderson directed adaptation of The Three Musketeers. As for the possibility of the actress squaring off against David Harbour‘s Hellboy, it is something that, if scripted well, could result in cinematic gold, with the talent having the ability to own this role.
But what do you think? Are you excited to see Milla Jovovich battle Hellboy? Or did you have someone else in mind as the Blood Queen?
