So there’s no secret that over at 20th Century Fox there’s a lot of projects centering around Marvel’s merry mutants. From the small screen (Legion and The Gifted), to a reel of awesome features heading out way (Deadpool 2, X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants) there’s a lot to be excited for but one project lost not one but two directors and seemed to be entering development hell. Well no worries because Gore Verbinski is in talks to direct Gambit, you know the Channing Tatum vehicle that was meant to give the franchise a big icon to toy with.
Yes the guy who made the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and The Long Ranger, yep we haven’t forgotten about that train wreck yet, wants to take on the suave card throwing character from New Orleans. I can kind of see it but let’s be honest even though he’s one of the more well known Children of the Atom I’m on the fence about whether or not he should get his own flick. And seeing as how Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt were both previously attached and moved on for one reason or another gives me some cause for concern.
But what do you think? Do you want to see Remy LeBeau as portrayed by Tatum? Or do you want Fox to scrap this one altogether?
